Central Elementary School

Start of 2026 School Year

Start of 2026 - 2027 School Year

Dear Central Elementary Families,

We hope your family is having a wonderful summer. With the 2026–2027 school year quickly approaching, we need to share an important update that impacts our Central community.

If you remember, Central has been under construction receiving a new roof this summer. During the most recent rainstorm on Friday, July 17, the building sustained extensive water damage due to a construction error. As a result, the building will not be ready for the start of the upcoming school year. Building repairs will take a substantial amount of time.

While third-party experts assess the situation, we are exploring relocation options for our Central students and staff. One possibility includes the Centennial Learning Campus (formerly Centennial Elementary School). NSD and Central Administration will be making a recommendation to the Nampa School Board as soon as possible.

This is not how we hoped to start the year and recognize it creates challenges for families and staff. While this was an unforeseen event, the contractor responsible for the roof replacement is working diligently to restore the building. They will complete all necessary repairs at no cost to the Nampa School District.

We are focused on ensuring every student has a safe and welcoming learning environment with as little disruption to their education as possible. While there may be bumps along the way, our commitment to Central Elementary students, families, and staff remains unchanged. Once the Nampa School Board has made their decision, we will communicate with our parents directly.  Thank you for your patience and support.

Sincerely,

Dr. Gregg Russell
Superintendent
Nampa School District
